Do You Want a Job In Space?
Do You need a Job In Space?
Growing up within the 1980's watching fantasy TV series, it wasn't hard to imagine a future where we might all be working and living in space . As an adult i noticed that these fantasies were make-believe or are they?
With recent technological advancements, these childhood dreams could in actual fact become a reality. the united kingdom government alone has predicted over 100,000 space jobs within the next 5-10 years.
Both businesses and governments can see the potential in space, which has been proven through funding being allocated to space innovators and scientist. If space is that the final frontier, the question you would like to ask yourself is what space positions could you be used in?
Space Miners
Recently the NASA funded lunar scientific research has discovered evidence of water locked in mineral grains on the moon, which scientist believe originates from deep within the moon's interior. Our knowledge off the structure of planets is increasing as research into projects like magnetic water provides clues and an new understanding of how planets were formed.
Planetary Geologist could play an important role within the future discoveries of minerals and ores that we could use back on earth. With the earth's natural supply of coal and oil dwindling, our next step maybe to mine and drill for these resources on orbiting planets.
It's not just fuel resources on planets that we could mine. there's a possible to seek out gold, starting of a replacement space gold rush. Gold and silver are formed through fusion inside a star. When the world was being created after the large bang, other stars exploded scattering heavy metals throughout the universe. If gold and silver were created within the earth's core, it might all be melted thanks to the extreme heat, which suggests after the world solidified, gold and silver hit the world within the sort of an outsized asteroid shower. And if these asteroids hit the world they'll have hit other nearby planets too. Future generations could have the age old job of gold mining or "forty-niners" as they were originally called. the longer term gold rush won't see people panning for gold in streams; it'll be a more high tech operation using drilling and engineering technology.
Space Watchers
We have seen a rise within the amount of satellites orbiting the world . These satellites are the eyes of the world , saving employers both time and money. As an example a construction project manager no-longer must leave their office to look at how the project is progressing. Instead they will log into an internet site which program's the satellite, sending live images of how the project progresses.
The Google team have seen the potential of space, and recently launched its Lunar X-PRIZE, where they need a personal company to launch a rocket, safely land it on the surface of the Moon, make it travel for 500 meters above, below, or on the Lunar surface, and eventually to remit two "Moon-casts" to Earth. The prize is worth $40 Million, which is an example of the sort of investment companies are committed to take a position into the space sector.
One future space job are going to be asteroids watching. we all know that asteroids killed of the dinosaurs and that we don't need an equivalent thing to happen to the humanity . NASA recently announced that it'll launch a survey telescope to look for near-earth asteroids. These early warning systems may save thousands of lives within the event of asteroids hitting the world . within the USA president Obama has even outlined plans that would see astronauts land on an asteroid.
This paranoia may be a real threat, last year over 1000 people were injured in Russia when a 40-ton meteor travelling at 33,000 mph explodes over a terrified town.
Space Holidays
Space might be subsequent destination for the vacation maker. Virgin and Richard Branson are already before the sport with this new sector, recently launching the world's first space line - Mary Galactic.
This groundbreaking opportunity to holiday in space together of the primary ever non-professional astronauts is dream which will now be fulfilled. "The affect Mojave Aerospace Ventures is simply the beginning of what we believe are going to be a replacement era within the history of mankind, at some point making the affordable exploration of space by citizenry a true possibility." Richard Branson.
This could be just the beginning . We could soon be holidaying on Virgin space stations or booking accommodation on planets using advanced technologies to supply air and water.
Dennis Tito the world's first space tourist, recently launched a project to send a married couples into space to circulate the earth Mars, a visit lasting 500 days. The trip costing over a £1 Billion pounds might not be a visit future tourist could afford but the investment again shows the commitment business leaders are having when it involves space holidays.
Future Space Jobs
In the innovation and testing stage of any new technologies and job sectors, means we cannot accurately predict the longer term of those potential space jobs. All we all know is that companies like Google, Virgin and Dennis Tito are all investing in space, which suggests they will see the potential space offers . like inventions just like the internet and mobile phones, some skeptics may believe this is often a fad, but the chances might be endless changing the roles we'll be used in, the way we live,... or maybe where we live.
